Husband threatens to leave (I need advice!)

Soooo my husband and I are in couples therapy have been for 6 years and the one major factor that counselor and I have noticed is he threatens to leave

He threatens on typical days and always during arguments

He’s even said in therapy he dreads coming home cos of the cats …. Not sure why

We have 4 cats: 1 is 14 years old, 3 are 3 years old and one is 9 months old. Great cats…

He dreads coming home cos of the kids he just wants alone time

Sometimes on a normal day he’ll say things out of no where like:

I hate this house

I can’t stand it here

One of these cats needs to go or I’m gonna leave

Fuuuuuuck I can’t stand it here I hate this godamn house

I’m gonna leave I’m gonna leave

One day I’m just gonna leave

During arguments

He says:

If I don’t listen to him he’s gonna leave (keep in mind he’s screaming and I’m calm trying to talk things out he won’t hear me out he just screams louder at me til I shut up)

WE ARE DONE YOU GET THAT *laughs manically* WE ARE SOOOOOOO DONE!

I’m gonna fucking leave

Then he packs up everything and LEAVES for about an hour and comes back

He swears he doesn’t wanna leave the relationship….. he’s happy…. He doesn’t mean these things he just gets so mad he’s always said this the last 6 years

But why constantly be saying this stuff for the last 6 years especially after numerous discussions about how I feel and it makes feel …if he doesn’t truly wanna leave and he’s happy makes no sense to me…..

I get we are all different and handle our emotions differently…but I’ve never once in a relationship or my marriage threatened to leave under any circumstance

This has been on going for so long I know exactly when he’s gonna threaten to leave… he’s been asked about under lying issues or resentments and he says he has none. He just says these things when he gets upset.

It’s being discussed again on Tuesday how he does this and it creates hurt and a sense of insecurity within the marriage…..and I know he’s just gonna play it off like everything is fine, no one has to take it seriously which is so frustrating…

Could it truly be he’s over our marriage???
