Puppy training tips!

RyRy

In August or September we will be adding a frenchton to our family. We currently have 2 other fur babies (Staffie and golden retriever / lab mix) that are 8 and 12. So it’s been a long time since we have owned a puppy. My 2 other dogs are trained pretty well with going to their kennels, leash walks, baths, recall, etc. but it has been YEARS since i have trained a dog.

DH and I both work full time. I work close to home though. The first week we have her I am planning to only do a half day, so I can really work on the crate training and potty training. And the week after that I tend to go home on my hour lunch to let her out to potty and work on some training and playing. Im also hoping I can have a family member stop out one other time to let her go potty and praise. I know she will not be able to hold her potty for that long and I do intend to come home to some messes. My plan is to keep her in our master bathroom with her kennel there and open so she still has her safe space and won’t be making an accident in there.

But what other tips do you have for separation anxiety, kennel and potty training while working full time?

I’m also planning to make 30mins-1hr each morning to walk / play / train so she has some exercise and mental stimulation first thing in the morning.
