Advice on moving away??

As of right now I’ve lived my whole life in the city I was born in. I have a strong desire to move away and experience life somewhere outside of the small town I grew up in. My whole family lives here too so I think that’s part of the reason I’m having a hard time leaving. I’m comfortable in the familiarity and knowing I have my family within a 10 minute drive if I need them. A lot of my friends have moved away but all with significant others, for school or the military so they had a plan set up or weren’t alone. For me I’d be moving away by myself hopefully with a job lined up but without someone with me or an organization helping me move. I know it’s a big step and there’s a lot that goes into it. It scares me like hell but I also have such a strong pull to just get out into the world and of my safety net. Does anyone have any advice to move away and feel somewhat confident in doing so? There is an option to move in with a family member I’m close with in California but I’m not sure that’s the state I would wanna live in but that’s my plan B. Any help is appreciated:)
