Would you fire a great nanny because she won't listen and insists on reading religious books to your kids, singing religious songs, and only letting them watch Veggie Tales?

Question

I am not religious and neither is my husband. We hired Teresa two weeks ago and she is amazing, but she will not tone down her Jesus loving. I don't mind my eldest watching a bit of VeggieTales (my 3 year old gets 15-30 minutes of screen time each day) but everything is Jesus with Teresa. She reads only Bible stories (which she brings) and stories about Jesus. She sings only religious kids songs or hymns. My 18 month old likes to sing either Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or You Are My Sunshine before a nap. She refuses to even play those songs on YouTube for her and instead sings Jesus Loves Me. I told her that this might be why my daughter resists naps for her. We have Nanny cams so this is why we know what's going on. And my 3 year old will not stop singing Jesus Loves Me.
We've already spoken with her about this three times. We told her the VeggieTales is ok, but please stop reading Bible stories and singing Christian songs. The last time she said she understood where we were coming from, but in her experience, the younger kids are when they're exposed to the word of God, the more likely they are to grow up Christian. I told her that I am not comfortable with this continuing so please stop. She hasn't.
My husband and I do like her and she's great, but we feel like she's going to continue pushing boundaries. I do have other people who are willing to watch the kids, it's just that their daycare flooded and they're doing some repairs. They should be up and running in July again.
My husband and I figure we have 2 options:
1. Continue on and hope Teresa doesn't get worse
2. Fire Teresa and either I stay home, work part-time, or we get someone else.
I feel like it's harsh to tell her that if she doesn't stop pushing Jesus on my kids, she's going to be out a job. That's exactly where this is headed though.

I’m a Christian myself, however I would never push my religion beliefs on others, especially in the workplace. Fire her, you have already told her not to do that but she insists doing it anyway that’s a form of disrespect. Work life and personal life should remain separate.

As a Christan? Yes I would fire her. If I don't want someone reading certian books, singing certian songs, ect to my children then my word goes. If a nanny can't do her job and follos the commands of the family then she can get lost. You are the parent. You dictate what is and isn't allowed. If she won't listen to you on this what else will she ignore? If someone came into my home and was trying to teach my toddlers another religion I'd be furious. There will be time for that when I teach religious studies when my kids are older. I'll go over various religions, their core beliefs, how that ties into culture, ect because it's important to understand others and their beliefs, but it's my job to raise my children how I see fit not for a nanny to introduce beliefs I'm not comfortable with.

Teresa doesn’t care and wants to do what Teresa sees fit. You should’ve only of had to have ONE conversation about it. Multiple conversations just proves she will never listen or respect your wishes. She would’ve been fired the moment I had to have the same conversation with her AGAIN.

There’s nothing right with someone pushing beliefs on your children. She isn’t respecting you. I don’t think it’s a silly reason to let her go.

You have to create very firm boundaries. I don't think your boundaries are firm enough because you're allowing VeggieTales, but not the other stuff. Just don't allow any of it. Tell her that you expect her to keep religion out of your household. If she does not respect that, she will be replaced with someone who can. And yes, if she doesn't stop, find someone else to watch the children. It may sound harsh, but these are your kids. Not hers. She has no right to impose her religion upon your children without your approval. ￼
