If your family member applied pesticides to their lawn 2 weeks ago, would you let your baby (under 1yo) play in that lawn?

Nope...zero chance. I am a environmental bio engineer. I work on clean energy currently but used to work in soil science while getting my 1st masters. The half life of those chemicals is usually several years and if they apply consistently theough the year the soil will be contaminated enough that yes sensritive skin could have irritation. Even if there is no physical issues the chemicals in most commercial fertilizers have all sorts of carcinogenic potentials. That means potentially hormone disrupters, cancer increases, tumor potentials. And before someone says anything...yes you are exposed to that all the time and your kids are also at most parks/schools/sports fields in america but if I can I would limit exposure. Blankets are always a good way to at least avoid direct soil/grass contact or long sleeves/pants/socks/shoes. I live overseas now and thankfully my country now limits chemicals and use way more but even "safe" ones are not without risk hence all the warnings and frequent lawsuits over the effects (see roundup for example). There are a lot of ways that are more natural and less toxic that can be utilized but America and the love of easy green lawns with no weeds makes that progress challenging. But no if I could help it I would pass or at least take precautions like a blanket (the ones that have the waterproof side so its plastic/rubber are best) and minimal skin exposure to the ground. Just think not too long ago DDT was considered the safe go to and now we know the immense damage that did to everything. Round Up was considered a safe go to for weed control and now they are under fire because its now been directly linked to cancer and had an 11 billion dollar lawsuit loss because they couldnt refute the science.

We burn our lawn. No chemicals. 2 dogs have already died of cancer and now the cat has masses in her chest. We have a toddler too. But imo, sadly, our poor animals are the test dummies. They wear no shoes and lick themselves and don’t get wiped or bathed. We used stuff in the past, ignorantly, and paid the price with the heartbreak of losing my furbabies.

Nope! Never! I spent my entire childhood surrounded by yards sprayed with all kinds of sh*t. My entire family has had horrible health side effects. We know handfuls of people from the neighborhood that have had or have non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma including my dad. Now my sister and I just wait for our turn of the really serious health issues in addition to what we already experience. 
I wouldn’t even go near a sprayed yard! Like I would leave that house and not return. Period.

I personally would avoid it if I could but I also did a ron of work/research into lawns and chemical applications while in college as a 2 yr toxicology internship so am more leary than the average person. At a minimum I'd make sure arms and legs are covered for the 1st bit so if there is an interaction it is limited
