How do I know?

For anyone that was actively taking birth control pills so their period never came, or your period has stopped due to the birth control regardless of pill, iud, implant, how did you know you were pregnant? What were the symptoms you had that gave you the indication you were pregnant and needed to take a test? I have sex with my boyfriend quite often, but afterwards I feel anxious because I can never tell if I need to take a test, or if it’s just symptoms from my birth control. Did you test every few weeks just as precaution?
