Circumcision?

My family keeps recommending I circumcise my boy for medical reasons. I have heard that kids can later get infections and require surgery anyways. My partner is not circumcised and I left the decision up to him and he had originally said no but he has changed his mind. I Just can’t bear to see or think my baby is going to be in pain. Circumcision was not offered or even mentioned at the hospital so my baby is now 8 weeks old. Thoughts, advice, anything ?

Ignore the comments. If it were for “medical reasons” the drs would’ve been more concerned with it. It’s purely cosmetic. & your baby is 2 months now. Don’t put him through that.

My husband is 36 & uncut & has never had any issues with it. We have 3 boys who we chose not to circumcise & they've been absolutely fine. They're 10, 8 & 3. None of their doctors have ever pushed it beyond the initial question at birth. Your family is being ridiculous.

a better question is why are adults so concerned with a child’s penis. he is fine and healthy as he is. to put him in surgery for something like that especially now would be so much unnecessary stress and risk for some weirdos making comments.

There is no "need " for a circumsision. Especially on a 2 month old. Thats horrid.

Uncut is totally fine, you just need to make sure to use proper hygiene with the extra fold of skin.

I'm going to start this off with all 3 of mine had circumcisions. My first two i was young, dad said yes to the first one and did the second one so they were the same. My now husband and i discussed it in depth for our not (my 3rd). He said with him having one and big brothers, we should. I said okay. These were all done right after they were born. I'm glad we did it as I've been arguing with all 3 of them about cleanliness for what feels like an eternity (16 1/2, 15, and 5 1/2). Your baby is 8 weeks old now, and you both made the decision you felt was good for your family. Don't let outsiders tell you otherwise.

My husband is not and never had an issue with it. You just teach them at a young age to keep it clean- which regardless is a good life skill. There is not a medical reason to get it and it’s mostly just common in North America anyways.
