Why OPK?

Ok so I have a question, why do some women take a hpt and an opk when they suspect they are pregnant? Does the LH surge or rise while pregnant? Thank youuuu 🙌🏻

It’s because of what they see online. Susan posts a YT video and claims this or that, everyone believes it to be true, and everyone starts doing it, too. LH doesn’t rise during pregnancy, it actually remains low. During the TWW, we get a secondary surge in Estrogen, which can cause a temporary rise in LH, resulting in a positive OPK. Also, LH and HCG are molecularly similar, so it’s possible that if HCG is high enough, it may not be able to tell the difference between the similar component shared between the two hormones, and it could produce a positive OPK, but regardless, it’s pointless to use both tests at the same time. OPK’s can’t be used in lieu of pregnancy tests and vice versa.

Because they think a positive LH test indicates pregnancy, but that’s not true. Some also like to see the line & compare it to where the line should be on the HPT
