Police officer likes me ??

So the police was called to my house due to my mom & her boyfriend, the police arrived and got everything situated and one of the officers ended up asking me my age & I told him I was 21 & he was like oh I thought you were younger (he looks like a really young cop I think he told my siblings he was 27), he then started to ask about my career path & I told him I am in nursing school & I also told him one of my dream jobs before getting into nursing was being a police officer. We then started talking about police academy & how it was so hard for me to look for a way to sign up for it & he told me to put my number in his phone & he'll text me about it in the morning ( the cop who was standing next to him gave him a crazyyyy look and said "Oooooooo" ) he looked at him like he knew it was a bad idea to text me & I get it because he's a officer. He texted me the next day that afternoon & I thanked him for helping me & He told me to never hesitate to contact him & that he'll get a recruiter to get me in for the academy ..... so I said okay & the conversation ended .... Recently Saturday he texted me at 10pm & said "hey hope everything's been well" and I told my mom how he's so sweet for checking in on me & she said "he's still texting you!? are you sure that him texting you is just about the police stuff shouldn't he have kept it to a minimum with helping you and that's it? He definitely likes you" I didn't know he texted me that late until today & I replied back yesterday morning not realizing that he texted me that late .... What do you guys think? He seemed really sweet & I want to look at it as him checking in because I like to think the best of people but the 10pm text kind of caught me off guard..... ( also when I texted back I told him everything was well & I hope that he's doing well also " that was left on read, maybe me texting the next day at 9 Am could've made him mad a little? But my mom said "who cares he's not your man nor is he your husband if he was mad" ) so do you guys think him texting me was just him genuinely checking in ??
