OPEN diaper rash - help??

Moms I need advice. I’m waiting for pediatrician to call back but my son has an open diaper rash. I’ve bathed him daily, keeping him clean but not wiping only gently dabbing and flushing the affected area, constantly putting the zinc oxide cream on, but this morning the rash is not just red, it’s open skin :(. What have you used successfully??? I read zinc oxide is not supposed to go on open skin so I just put aquaphor on. Any recommendations PLEASE help babymy pediatrician is super busy and my baby is in pain 😢

Don’t put a diaper on him unless it is for sleeping time. I’ve  had three kids who all get awful diaper rash including open sores. The best and fastest way to help it heal is to not put a diaper on unless it is absolutely necessary. Don’t use wipes at all. Rinse under running water and dab dry with a towel. And definitely talk with the pediatrician. Mine prescribed an ointment (not for yeast) that helps with awful diaper rash. I know it is super messy to not put a diaper on your child and you will end up with pee and poop in places that you really wouldn’t like it, but I promise that it is worth it.

This is most likely from yeast. Get some monistat7 or generic and apply at every change. Once gets better try using cornstarch instead of baby powderto keep dry.

Pepto (the pink liquid stomach medicine) is the best for stubborn rashes and sores. Use a cotton ball to dab on a generous amount. 
Try to not bathe every day. That can dry out babes skin and make things worse. Once healed, try to not use wipes after pees unless skin is visibly wet. Switch to using just water or water wipes.
