To pierce ears or to not?

I know this is controversial and all, but I want to know pros and cons to both sides. We found out we’re having a girl and we want to wait till they decide but I know people who got their girls ears done and they said it’s easier in the long run. I don’t think we will do it for the fact that I never got mine till like 8, but I just wanted to know what the pros and cons were.

I got all my girls done at 6m when they got at least two tetanus shots their doctor okayed it and said 6m was the best age to do it they won’t remember they are their so they won’t try to pull them or anything my oldest said she’s glad I did it when she was young so she don’t remember the pain lol 
It’s your baby you do what you feel is best talk to her doctor do some research and go from there and congratulations girls are so fun

As someone who got their ears pierced as a baby I thank my mom all the time, now I can wear jewelry in my ears and don’t remember the pain of getting that piercing done

The only reason I waited for my girls is because my skin was so sensitive as a baby, I got infections a lot even with 14k and hated the cleanings for years. But my older daughter is 7 and is still scared to do it even though she wants to, so I do see advantages to doing it younger. I dont know anyone who was mad that their parents had them pierced as babies so I see no ethical issue, for me it was more practical.

i personally would wait until your child can make her own decision. what if she doesn’t want them pierced? i had mine pierced when i was about 10 years old and can honestly say i don’t remember having trouble or being in pain with them.

I actually just got my daughter’s ears pierced yesterday! She didn’t directly ask but she’s starting kindergarten this year and I asked her if she wanted to get them done and she said yes. She did cry and my husband had to hold her hands because she kept wanting to touch the piercing gun, but other than that she talked the whole way home about how much she loves her new earrings.

I got mine done in first grade, my parents waited until I could make the decision. I have very sensitive skin & I can’t imagine piercing my baby’s ears & potentially having to worry about an allergy or infection. I’d also worry about her pulling on them or getting caught on her clothes. Idk, I personally think it’s best to wait until they can make the decision & care for them on their own or with little help.
