A break from husband?

Has anyone ever “taken a break” from their husband? 
Not in a go out and sleep with other people way but it’s not working at all right now but I don’t want a divorce kind of way. 
Me and my husband are having serious relationship issues and I don’t want him here at the house. It’s super small and not enough room to “give us each our own space”. Like superrr small. 
I’m not sure what else to do but a divorce is on the horizon and I truly am willing to try something before that happens.

I think couples counseling will be more productive. I feel like taking breaks usually is one foot out the door, and eventually if you come back together the same issues and patterns will continue to arise anyway and youll be back to issues again. It's better to learn strategies from a 3rd party to prevent escalation or resolve resentment.

I think calmly mutually discussing this with some terms is ok. It’s not crazy to need a break from someone if you think it will help. Especially if you’re in a cramped space. Maybe a few days? If both of you agree and are happy with the arrangement it doesn’t have to involve other people or cheating. Just truly some away time to be alone and clear your head.
