I would've called him and told him that you cannot tolerate his behavior anymore and broke up with him. And then block him. No one should have to hear that time after time. I can see how he may have been joking, but the fact is, it's not a funny joke. It's hurtful and harmful. Especially after being said multiple times. I'm sure you have told him that you don't like it before. And if he's not getting it, and not stopping, then you have every right to leave the relationship. But I would always talk and try to break up before just blocking someone. Especially if you loved them, and they are not a danger to you. ￼

Have you told him you don’t like it when he says that sort of thing before? He says it was a joke, but it sounds like an insecurity thing to me. Did you think he was breaking up with you like he thinks or are you breaking up with him? I think you need to clarify that to him so he knows where you stand. While I can understand why you were bothered and reacted I do think you over reacted a little, unless you’ve told him before how you feel about it and he kept doing it…but he was also drunk and not thinking clearly (that’s not an excuse for most things but a little verbal vomit is usually expected). If that was the last straw for you and you’re done then that’s your choice but you need to tell him straight up.
