Cystoscopy is it necessary?
Hi, I really need some advice. I’m 28, a year ago I noticed ammonia smell to my urine. I got checked and it was a UTI, I did my full course of antibiotics and was fine. The smell started to slowly come back I would say three weeks later. It was not as bad and only the first morning pee typically. When I drank water, there would be no smell. So I thought maybe it’s dehydration since I don’t drink that much. Anyways, it’s been awhile now and I’ve decided to go to a specialist to check it out. I know I’m dumb for waiting so long. I have no other symptoms btw. Just the occasional smell, especially in the morning. No pain, nothing severe.
He tested my urine and there was some blood. He’s gonna send it out. He sent an antibiotic to my pharmacy. He’s gonna do an ultrasound and he also said he wants to do a cystoscopy. I said okay and scheduled it but now that I’m home and reading online I’m thinking it might be a little too invasive right now?? I haven’t had recurrent UTIs before this, it seems to be a reinfection from the first time. I don’t have any other symptoms and I just am freaking out. Anyone think I should even go through with this? Is that really necessary or can I do everything else first to see if it helps?
