AITA for not thanking a child?
A parent complained about me to my boss. I work the after school program and last week my wallet went missing. I panicked because it had all my cards. My food stamp card. My I.D. I never found it and got to get everything replaced. Yesterday my boss said a parent needed to speak to me. A mom said her daughter had something to give me. Her daughter is a third grader and gave me my wallet. The mom said she found it in her daughter's backpack. Her daughter stole it. She made her daughter apologize to me. I smiled and said ok and walked away. The mom complained because she wanted this to be a lesson for her daughter. She expected me to thank her daughter and tell her I appreciate her for being honest. Sorry if I sound like an ass. I know this girl is 9. But I'm not going to thank her for returning my wallet SHE stole out of my purse and only returned it because her mom made her. And I'm not grateful I got it back after I cancelled everything and had to pay for new cards and an I.D. Maybe I am an asshole
