Planned section or natural labour previous 3b tear

claire

Hi, a bit of a long post.

im on baby no.3 36 weeks pregnant and looking for advice on a natural delivery or a planned section.

baby no.1 straightforward spontaneous labour with natural birth ended with a little cut but healed well. 1 day early 7.15lb

baby no.2 straightforward spontaneous labour , natural birth 5 days late 8.13lb back to back birth, ended in a 3b tear repaired in theatre.

baby no.3 currently pregnant been straight forward I was offered a section due to the previous tear but didn’t want to , then we found at 33 weeks baby turned breech and he was growing bigger (projected to be 9.10lb) so a section was offered again and I agreed and planned this , the only date avaialble was 1 day before my due date.

I have just been for my growth scan at 36 weeks and he has turned head down now and he’s measuring smaller now (projected to be 8.10-8.13) but he is back to back like my 2nd daughter.

Do I carry on with the planned section to avoid another tear ? Or do I plan to labour naturally ?

fully aware I could also start with labour before my planned section day which means I can opt for a emergency on that case even though it would be more calm than a emergency as it would still sort of be planned.

I recovered well from the tear but it has only been 18months and It was a long recovery of feeling just not right down below. Sex was hard for a while because of scar tissue being uncomfortable, constipation and piles was hard work and I always just felt a little weak down there . I’m just worried if I tear again I’d be left with life long problems as I am only 29 and going to have 3 kids here to look after. I would also like children again in the future so don’t want any tears to take that option from me.

I am currently on a list for any section cancellations I will be put to an earlier day. The recovery of the section doesn’t really scare me as I had a long recovery from the tear , it’s going to be Christmas so my kids are off school and the driving thing isn’t a issue, I have my husband , my mum & mother in law close by so lots of support.

someone please advise me on what is going to be best for me and baby.
