Is dating your child's friends parent considered eating where you shit?

My son is 15 and his best friend is 16. They've been friends since he was in 6th grade and he stayed with us because his dad had been away for business stuff and his dad texted me to check up and we have kind of been texting and he wants to take me out on a date. My son doesn't like this idea and is asking me not do. He's worried if things don't work out or end badly that me, his dad, or both wouldn't let each other come over anymore. I do really want to get to know him and try to date. End of the day my son doesn't control who I date but would I be wrong?

I think that if you’re going to date him you need to talk to him about your sons concern. and have an agreement that if things end badly or not, that you will not let it effect your kids

Not wrong because you’re an adult & can do what you want, but personally I wouldn’t as I wouldn’t want to risk ruining my sons best friendship & then him resenting me. There are so many other men you can date, why does it have to be this one?

I say go for it. You never know this guy could be the one. Try and keep it casual and make sure you bring your son's concerns up to his friend's dad.
