Is it okay for husband/dad to call 3 year old a “brat”?
My husband and I got into an argument (infront of the girls) because he (again) yelled at our 3 year old because she did something she wasn’t supposed to in the car and started crying (which makes our 1 year old cry) and he said “you’re being a brat!” And I told him not to call her a brat (I’m getting so tired of it) and he yelled at me that “she is being a brat! Correct your daughter! What should I say when she’s being a brat?” (As I’m driving). And I told him that he need to tell her that her behavior is wrong and to correct her behavior not call her names. That it’s okay for her to cry a little. Then he told her “okay, you are doing wrong by god and disobeying your dad. That is what it means to be a brat. Do you understand what brat means?” And she said yes. And he clarified and asked her if brat was the same as disobeying and she said yes they are the same. To which he looked at me like I was the idiot for not understanding why he calls her a brat. He says he calls her a brat because other people will. She’s not even that poorly behaved. She just turned three in October.
