When do you normally test after trying?

With my 2nd pregnancy I tested at 8DPO and got a faint line. This time trying i am 10DPO and ended up with a negative. Im really praying it happens this month and was just curious when everyone gets their positives or starts testing? Do i still have a chance?  Thanks and baby dust to you all!
