Proposing in public vs private
So I've made the decision to propose to my boyfriend. I am already doing it. I have seen some women's reactions whenever a woman says she wants to propose and I'm going to be honest and say this as nicely as possible. I don't care about your opinion on it. If you're just going to tell me not to do it then don't comment because I'm not listening to you. I already bought the ring and I'm doing this my way. Thank you.
The reason I've decided to make the step is because my boyfriend is an amazing person. He just is a very broken person who is trying to put himself back together. He has been through a lot and had a very horrific childhood. To the point he thinks no one can truly love him or that he's not worthy of love because of the things he was put through by both his biological parents. Foster parents and then adoptive parents. He never had an adult in his life who cared about him so he was always told he was worthless. He also thought he wasn't worth being loved because he is HIV positive and has been since he was 13 because of abuse he was enduring. He's a great man who doesn't always understand how worthy he is. He has had some mental breakdowns that I've held him through where he was saying I deserve better and he makes everyones life worse. He's in therapy and while he's doing better he still deals with those thoughts that he deserves to be alone or that he isn't worth anything. So I'm taking the step because I love him and want to marry him. I do believe he's worth it. I love him. No matter how much baggage that comes with and I want to go through all of it. I will walk through hell with him and stay by his side and I want him to know that. My only question and unless you're going to answer this specific question please take your negativity elsewhere. Would it be better to do this in public or in private?
