Unreliable Acquaintance

I thought that getting to know this other woman we would end up being great friends, after all we have a lot in common. But, she keeps me hanging. After asking me if and when I’m free for a get together, she then goes MIA and eventually shoots a text or voicemail weeks after and tells me this and that and again asks if I’m available next week. Is it too much to ask to give someone else head’s up, like “hey, sorry this week won’t do, something has come up, we’ll catch up soon” just out of respect?

After she left me hanging before, I texted her if she’s still interested to get together because haven’t heard from her. And she said, “ohh yes, totally!” And she followed up.

Then, I told her I’m totally open and chill and I really appreciate to communicate things before there’s a misunderstanding

What is the deal, am I asking for too much?

My husband says, depending what I want out of this, if I want just an acquaintance to spontaneously hang out then not to take it so seriously. But if I’m looking for a decent friend, it’s too much work and headache
