MIL blames me

I left my husband who was abusive, I made a post about him abusing me for 8 years straight and being emotionally, financially and mentally abusive for 20 years. I hid it from both of our families for years, my mother knows bits and pieces but his mother knew absolutely nothing. Today my MIL called to talk about my leaving him and I told her everything. She told me she didn’t believe me, that’s understandable. I sent her proof dating all the way back 2012, photos of a busted lip and scratches. I don’t have all of the photos because he caught me and deleted them. He also took my phone and held me all night so that I couldn’t call for help or take anymore photos. I only have about 6 photos because I went into the restroom and snapped photos and emailed them to myself before he found me and took my phone. He deleted all of the photos and this is before the ability to recover deleted photos existed. I sent her the photos and proof that the email was from 2012, she told me they didn’t show anything aside from a big lip but no bruises or anything. I also sent her video of him tearing our house apart recently and she asked why I wasn’t in the video and what did I do to him. I wasn’t in the video because I was up stairs and he was tearing up the downstairs. What I did to cause him to destroy the house was take his phone because he was threatening to call the police on me and I was afraid as he’s had me taken out of our home by the cops in the past. She told me that she didn’t believe me because she couldn’t picture her son doing any of these things. I feel like such an idiot for even telling her now and my mother asked me why would I tell her. I told her because I thought it was the right thing to do, I spent years protecting my husband and covering for him. I didn’t use the photos and videos to have him arrested or get him in trouble of any sorts but his mother is making me feel like I should’ve just held the secret and never told anyone about it.
