Not to sound ungrateful but…

My kids great-aunt (67 with no kids on her own) comes once a week to watch them for a couple of hours while I’m going to work and until my husband arrives at home. She comes and visits regardless if there are times where I’m not doing a shift. My twins are almost 3 and my oldest is 5.

Last time she brought crayons, even though we have here plenty, before I left for work I see one of my toddlers drawing on the wall. I took it away and the great-aunt said she missed one.

I get home, the carpet and the wood floor are stained with crayons, the switches were set with stickers. I got so mad!

She has told us numerous times, she wants to take the kids over at her house. But her house isn’t safe. The living area is upstairs. The staircases are open, her lounge area upstairs has no actual fence only a set of metal strings. Anyone can slip through and fall on concrete floor. We told her, she alone with 3 small kids is way too much to handle. She said, her husband is home and he’d love to see the kids too. I said, he can come over anytime, then she says it’s not the same. My kids are not there to entertain others and if we feel that house is not child friendly she needs to understand. When hubby gets home, she asks him too!!!!

We don’t understand why she’s not getting it. Should I say something about the crayons??? 3 kids is a handful I know but if she cannot handle some activities with them, like drawing she needs to let it be!

Edited

No we don’t pay her, she has offered to do because seeing the kids once a week is what she wants anyway. But, just because she helps out doesn’t mean she has to ruin my house and things! I leave the house spotless before I go to work, all she has to do is play with them until my husband gets home
