Question. In your early 20's did you care how your date dressed on a first date

In my generation first dates you dress your best. It's a first impression. Idk if things are different with gen Z. But my son is 19 and he told me he's about to head out on a date. I said "Dressed like that?" He asked what's wrong with it. He was wearing ripped jeans with a dragon ball z shirt and a hat that says dip shit on it. Like he's a sweet kid and I think any girl would be lucky to have him and I told him that but first impressions are everything. My best friend said she would expect a man in his middle 20s and up to dress up for a first date but she isn't surprised a 19 year old would go on a date like that. Ladies what do you think because I think you should be putting in effort on a first date.
