5 weeks & 5 days and I hate how they make you wait 10+ weeks for your first checkup - sono .. this is the time we need the most reassurance I feel :( 
P.s. and I am a nurse with this opinion

If you get an ultrasound too early and they can't see things clearly that would cause more harm than good.

Not all OBs wait 10+ weeks for the first scan. You always have the option of going to a pregnancy resource center or a private ultrasound studio to get a look at your baby if you can't find an OB that will order a scan earlier.

Early ultrasounds are basically useless medically. Ultrasounds are a diagnostic tool and until your dating scan there is not much they can see and they are not reliable. It would be nice if there were ways we could constantly peek in and see how babe is doing but unfortunately that’s not realistic. You could see your family doctor for blood work to check your hcg levels as they can show if baby is growing.
