Is this a normal thing for little girls to experience around 6?

My daughter has recently started to really want her privacy and doesn’t want dad to see her private areas. I understand everyone wants their privacy and I think this is a totally normal thing to go through. But my daughter also around the same time started stuttering a lot and also started to put her finger in her mouth a lot and such on two fingers. Are these things normal six year old things to go through or am I witnessing red flags that someone has done something to my daughter innapropriate. I hate to think anyone would do this but it happens all the time and I just have this sickening feeling in my stomach. Any others experiences or advice would really be appreciated. Thanks

I feel like the stuttering and self soothing would be worrisome. Especially if no other new changes/events have happened recently.

I used to have a friend around that age that constantly sucked on her fingers and insisted it tasted like chicken. Privacy is also normal at this age. They start wanting a bit on independence and privacy comes with that. However, don’t ignore your gut if you have a bad feeling. Talk to your daughter about safety and safe touches vs bad touches and let her know not to keep secrets no matter what. You can ask after explaining, “have you ever experienced a bad touch from someone?” And she will give you an innocently honest answer most likely.

My daughter is 5.5 and going through the exact same thing. She has her 6 year molars as well as 3 other grown up teeth coming in right now so that’s kinda explaining the hands constantly in her mouth, but she’s also getting really big on privacy. I think it’s an age appropriate time for that as we’re also starting to subconsciously want more privacy from her. Like having her bust in the bathroom on me at 3yo was a little different than now when she’s almost 6. I think she’s picking up on that.

Honestly, I don’t think the privacy thing is really such a big issue my little sisters wanted their privacy around that age, but if the stuttering and the finger thing is abnormal for her, you could probably look into it somehow and see if there’s anything going on maybe somehow discreetly bring it up to your daughter discreetly that is very discreetly but other than that, it sounds normal to me
