Question for the non-religious

How do you teach your children to be spiritual? How do you teach them spirituality? Is there a book that guides you? Is there a set of morals?

I’m asking because my husband has accused me of being non-spiritual and says that I won’t have any stories to pass down to our children. He is currently taking Bible stories and rewriting some of them to teach our children about life but without the Christian miracles. (We both were raised in Christian households, he being more influenced by it than me, but neither of us are Christian in our adult lives). Anyway, I feel like I have a good moral compass and I don’t know if that should be attributed to Catholic upbringings or what. I think I can raise our children and teach them right from wrong without an book (like the Bible) as a moral compass. Thoughts?
