How much space?

So I met this guy at work and things kinda started between us from nowhere as we just had an instant chemistry. However at the time he had recently ended a long term relationship and I had a boyfriend so we decided to cut our relationship and remain as friends. I have since broken up with the guy I was dating and really want to pursue things with the work guy again as we just click and I feel super comfortable around him, but he said he needs time. (It’s been a month so far)

How long is realistic to wait for him?
