Baby rooting still even after feeding?

My son will be 2 weeks old tomorrow and I breastfeed. I make a lot of milk so I have no worries that I’m not producing milk. I want to know is it normal that he roots still after a full feeding? Or is he truly just still hungry? He usually spits up a lot too sometimes. I also pump and bottle feed him too occasionally and he drank a full 2 oz of breast milk last night and was still hungry after.

This would be cluster feeding and all you can do is just keep baby at breast for as long and as often as baby wants it. During these cluster feeding times bottles are not suggested to give at all.

Rooting is a natural reflex for babies to seek out the breast for comfort, not just for hunger. It's possible that your baby is still hungry, but it's also possible that he just wants to suck for comfort. Spit up is also common in babies, but if you're concerned about the amount, you can talk to your pediatrician. It's great that you're producing plenty of milk, keep up the good work!
