Son's female best friend got her period at our house

My son has been best friends with this girl since they met at summer camp when they were 8 and 9. They're 15 and 14 now. My son is 15, she's 14. They've slept over plenty of times and she's been sleeping over more lately because of her parents fighting. He came up stairs and said "Mom! Allison wants you". So I go and the poor care looks embarrassed and told me she got her first period and her pants her dirty. I don't have girls so I never had to deal with this. I asked my son to bring me a basket from my bathroom and a pair of his pajamas. He does so but opens the basket and decides to say rather loudly "Are these pads? Oooh Allison are you having a period!" I told my son "Social ques Mason. Social ques!" I felt bad for the poor girl since she's having issues at home and I getting her first period just through her over. She cried for an hour and my son decided to ask "So is this part of the period or?" So I sent him to go get snacks ready for a movie. I hugged her, gave her a pad, heating pad and some snacks. I don't have girls but I hope I did okay for a mom who doesn't have daughters

@Alix lol my son is aware of what a menstrual cycle is. He just sucks at social ques because he has ASD. He also isn't into girls so his menstrual cycle knowledge doesn't really go past the basics. He knows girls bleed once a month and it can make them have emotionally and a period means a girl can know get pregnant.
