NEW to BBT.. help?

Question

Just ordered the easy @ home thermometer. I’m no stranger to opk’s, but bbt? Definitely. Explain it to me. Is the temp spike an indicator you’re about to ovulate, or that you already have? What’s your time frame? Does it confirm ovulation? Tell me all the things!

Basal Body Temperature (BBT) is the temperature of your body at rest. It is taken first thing in the morning before you get out of bed. The temperature spike indicates that you have already ovulated. The time frame for taking your BBT is important. You should take it at the same time every day, preferably in the morning before you get out of bed. BBT can confirm ovulation, but it is not a predictor of ovulation. It is best used in conjunction with other methods of tracking ovulation, such as cervical mucus monitoring and OPKs. Keep in mind that BBT can be affected by many factors, such as illness, stress, and lack of sleep.

Once positive opk ovulation can occur in 12-48 hours then your lookin for a temp rise and for it to stay up. Use Fertility friend app it’s more accurate with bbt and will confirm ovulation when your 3dpo. BBT confirms ovulation but let’s you know when you ovulated, dpo, luteal phase length (is from the day after ovulation to period which stays the same each cycle give or take 1-2 days. Average length is 12-14 days give or take 1-2 days.) when period is coming by temp drop or if you miss your period and your temp stays up then there is a chance for pregnancy
