Have to get house with council
So me and my boyfriend have been staying with family friends during my pregnancy but they’ve given us a date to leave as the older man is developing a cognitive disease and he’s deteriorating quickly.
My partner can go to his grandparents but they can’t have me and baby there too as the house is too full. I’m on DSS atm because I’m on maternity, I did say for us to get a place ages ago when I was working as it would have been easier but at the time family friends said we could stay there until September but obviously with the guys health deteriorating there has been some issues with that. It’s proven very very difficult for us to now get a flat. (I don’t wanna say ‘I told you so’ 😂)
So now I have to stay in a b&b for mothers and babies until council can give me a home.
I’m 23 and my partner is 20, am I wrong for saying he should come and see me and baby every day and then stay the night 3/4 times a week? I have really strong family unit views just like my mum. But also because of his age, I want to sort of shield him from being TOO stressed out having to deal with baby every night when he has to get up for work at 6:30 every morning so my idea above was just to help him ease into having baby. My mum said ‘he’s a man and you’re treating him like a boy giving him options, he’ll end up starting to think he can be a part time father’
I did explain that this would only be until I have my own place because we both don’t really have anywhere to go or any other option at this point.
Am I wrong in wanting to do this or does my mum have a point? Should I throw him in the deep end and see if he cracks under the pressure? Or try and make it easier on him for the first couple of months until we can be together full time? (I know it should be 50/50 but I’m scarred from my dad leaving me because he couldn’t cope with the pressure so I think that that’s getting to me a little)
