How to handle cat fur ?

My cat loses a lot of hair this time as summer approaches it doesn’t bother me but i’m due in 3 weeks and i wonder how can i manage his hair after the baby comes until he shed all his “ winter “ fur. I was wondering if going to a vet and trim it do the work or not, or something else ? I comb his hair 2-3 times a day but still loses.
