Is this normal amount of milk?
Hello ladies,
My boy is 7 months old and EBF ever since he came back from hospital after coming to this world. In the beginning I had oversupply and that regulated around 4 months old and we had no issues since that. He is growing properly and he is a bit on the bigger/heavier side.
I will be going back to work from September. I wanted to try give him a bottle but seems like he doesn’t want bottle at all, doesn’t know how. I bought correct size of the nipple and I pump to give him my milk. I have 2 questions:
1. It was my first time to pump after many months so I didn’t know what should I expect, I got only 60ml (2 oz). This was in between nursing sessions. I was a bit disappointed, is this normal amount of milk? Is he able to get more if he nurses by himself? He doesn’t seem to lose weight or anything so I thought we are doing fine here.
2. I would like to give my milk to the nursery when I go back to work, which means I will need to pump and he will need to take bottle while in the nursery (he will be 10 months old at that time). How do I make sure he starts taking the bottle? How many times should I offer? How much should I pump if I want the nursery to give him milk at least twice during his stay in a day?
So anxious about this!!
Thanks!!
