Coparenting. How often should you talk?

My current boyfriend thinks me and my sons dad talk too much. I disagree. Our kid is almost 3 and we have split custody. He spends two weeks with his dad and two weeks with me each month.We text or call usually once a day. All of our conversations are about our son. Usually about how his day is going, his routines, his interests/dislikes, and health. However, my boyfriend thinks thats still too much and our conversations should really only be about pick up/drop off and health. I really believe that im not doing anything wrong. I think its important to communicate everything especially since hes still growing and changing alot. Its really helpful to know what hes doing at his other home because he cant really communicate that yet. I really want him to.have as much stability as possible.
