Keeps dropping pacifier?

Question

Why does my baby who is 3 weeks old, drop his pacifier while he's falling asleep but then grunt to have it back? He does it while he's still pretty awake? He'll do it after he's well fed burped and changed.

He’s brand new. He doesn’t know what he’s doing.

He’s not strong enough to hold it. 
He’s relaxing so he drops suction.
He has a tie (lip and/or tongue).
He has a high palate (common in preemies).

He's still learning how to be a person give the 3 week old a break 😂

normal, it’ll pass, it sucks but it’s hard for them to hold it in their mouths, both of mine went through this phase

It’s probably soothing him. I know my baby learned how to hold hers because it wouldn’t stay in but once she’s fully sleep I make sure it’s out.
