preemie and NG tube
My daughter was born at 32 weeks and was for the most part very healthy. She’s had no episodes or anything. She was only on CPAP for 2-3 days and has been gaining weight so well. The only thing keeping her from going home is that she’s only taking 60% of her bottles at every feed and the rest has to go through her NG tube. She’s 37 + 1 weeks today and of course i want her to come home and be able to eat just fine but I’m getting so impatient. And the hospital is 2 hours away from where we live and we have another daughter at home who isn’t allowed in the NICU so I can only see the newborn when I have a babysitter. I have to return back to work soon too bc my husband can’t keep paying all the bills himself, so I’ll get to see her even less. I just hate that she’s over a month old and I’ve barely got to see her. I don’t even feel like her mom bc I’ve hardly got to bond w her. Has anyone else been in this situation? How long did your baby stay in the nicu for this reason, or how long did it take them to get the hang of eating? Were you able to take baby home w the NG tube?
