Did you take any breastfeeding classes? Are they worth it? Share your experiences!

Hey mamas! I'm debating whether or not to take a breastfeeding class before the baby arrives. Have any of you taken one? If so, was it worth it? Did you find it helpful? I would love to hear your experiences!

Yesssss!!! A MUST!!! I took @KarrieLocher course, but my friend found a local lactation consultant to meet with prior to birth. Soo needed! Breast feeding is hard, and you need to know when to introduce or not introduce a pump. You definitely should take a really in depth class prior to birth. That way you know what to expect and can problem solve a bit.

We went to a free class at the hospital that covered nursing an birth. It was helpful in preparing myself, but also just realizing what I needed to explore more on my own to feel as ready as I could. The most helpful though was to take full advantage of the lactation consultant on the floor after you deliver. I called her every single time I went to feed to make sure we were doing it right, gets tips and tricks, and answer any crazy questions I may have. Also, the hospital I delivered at has a free weekly group that meets to do weighted feed checks which can really calm the nerves, especially when cluster feeding starts.

Your local hospitals will likely have free classes you can take baby after they’re born. With my 4 yo I went to three before finding one that I really liked. They’d all weigh my son before and after feeding so you know how much he’s actually getting, and the one I stuck with had an expert that would help me with latching/holding/timing/etc.

I went to a free one at our hospital before having our first. We did that and an infant safety class. 
After I gave birth, I met with a lactation consultant where they did a weighted feed to make sure baby was getting enough. It was covered by insurance
