Breakthrough bleeding?

So I started bleeding brown on Saturday morning but I’m still one week away from starting my placebo week. I’m assuming I’m having breakthrough bleeding since I have been taking my birth control late and/or missing (e.g. I missed one day so I take it when I remember which is the next day but then I miss the pill from that same day). I just want to know if I’m supposed to continue bleeding until after the placebo week? I start my placebo week on Friday but I’m still bleeding AND it’s no longer brown it’s just red. Is this normal? Has this happened to anyone else?
