Stupid gift??

Last year my husband and I were in a very bad spot financially. I was fired, struggled to get a job for over half a year, and he was paying for absolutely everything.

We couldn’t afford to buy anyone Christmas gifts. So I had the “brilliant” idea to make homemade sugar body scrub for all the girls in my family and homemade shaving cream for the boys. There aren’t any kids that I give to.

Well, every persons home I’ve gone to since then has the container of scrub/cream just sitting in their bathrooms. Completely untouched. I spend every last little bit of my money to buy the stuff to make those and it looks like it was just a waste. The thing is, I had a lot of fun making those last year and wanted to do something homemade again this year, but if people aren’t going to like/use them, then I don’t want to waste the time or money. Was it a stupid gift idea?
