Kiss on the lips?

Question

My boyfriend and I have been seeing each other for 6 months now. I have a 6 year old daughter from a previous relationship and have began introducing her to him. My daughter is very affectionate and I am also affectionate so she wants to hug or cuddle or give kisses. My boyfriend grew up with parents who did not hug or kiss him ever. He just says it was never their thing. The last time we all spent time together my daughter told me she loved me then gave me a kiss on the lips. My boyfriend was very weirded out by that and said it’s not normal. I explained that it might not be normal to him because he wasn’t showed affection but is normal for us and that tons of parents kiss their children in their lips. So am I wrong here? Is it just because he’s not a parent or super affectionate?

I think it’s normal for a 6 year old or young child in general, but I do think it’s weird after a certain age.

I kiss my kids on the lips and I will until they get big enough to not want to kiss mom on the lips  anymore.

I grew up in a no contact household. No one kissed, hugged, or said I love you. I have a 4 and 6 year old and it’s full of hugs, affection, and kisses on the lips and cheeks. Until they vocalize they’re uncomfortable or show me body language that is objecting my affection, this is how it’ll be. They enjoy the affection at this age, so I don’t think it’s weird.

As someone who’s family was not affectionate like his and now I hate affection, it’s very normal. I try to force myself to give my daughter appropriate affection so is comfortable with it as an adult since it is normal.

It is normal but for me once my kids got older I started kissing them on the cheek and told them as they get older it's less appropriate for lip kisses , changing Infront of adults, having others in the bathroom during wash time etc. We had a talk about no no parts (private parts nobody can touch etc) it's all about boundaries understanding each others and respecting them

Even though I grew up like that, I am the opposite. I always hug, kiss and tell my boys I love them throughout the days. I kiss them on the cheeks and sometimes lips. I will stop once they’re a certain age

I kiss my kids on the lips. My parents did to us and they did theirs. Nothing weird about it because we don't make it weird. I will continue until they no longer want to.

We never kissed our family on the lips. Forehead or cheek. That’s how illness is spread, herpes, cold, flu, etc. some parents and families do but it wasn’t our thing. I kiss my nieces on the forehead too.

It's a cultural thing. I can not accept it, but I know a few fine parents who do. The big thing here is that ur new guy has opinions on ur relationship w/ ur daughter and comming from a differant placeand speaking about it already, he seems to will have many other opinions. It's very tricky when one partner has kids and the other does not. Not saying I see something bad, just saying keep an eye out and work on understanding what it is that your child needs and what your flavior as a parent is. It will come in handy soon.

I'm in the minority.my parents didn't kiss us on lips and i don't kiss my kids on their lips.
