What would you do?

My child recently got diagnosed with severe level 3 autism. Where we are there are not many resources. The ones there are there is a very long waitlist. Currently my family helps me pay rent and stuff. I got my child into a program in Colorado and everyone is mad about it and they are saying they will not help me I have to do it all on my own. I do have some family there so I won’t go there not knowing anyone and I have already signed a lease. Would you figure everything out and go or stay?

I would do everything I could to be in a place where my child could access the supports and services they needed.

If you can afford it & it’s the best for your child than you should go. However it’s not fair to expect your family to keep paying your bills & there becomes a point where you need to just figure it out

Apply for disability for him. It helps so much with cost of therapy/doctors appointments, it’s easier when they are young kids too. Also state insurance, usually he will get on that due to the disability. SSD goes by your income until the age of 18. Your state has lots of resources autism and coverage, you just have to do some leg work. Early therapy is a must, and will him so much in the long term.
