Did you like the Barbie movie?

What are your thoughts on it's message? Is it controversial or should people just take a chill pill and see it as pure ntertainment?

I had no intention of seeing it because the previews I saw made it seem like a campy beach blanket bingo type with lots of innuendo (the beach off scene was the only preview I saw).  I paid no attention to the commentary after its first week of release and ended up going with a friend  after a terrible day of work only because I wanted popcorn.  I.LOVED.IT! 
It is so wonderfully and smartly written.  The message is clear without it being a 2 hour rant or yelling/screaming fest.  I don’t agree with critics or commentary that Barbie was mean to Ken simply because she didn’t put his feelings at the forefront of her actions.  Even when he was pushing boundaries she was kind, friendly, and respectful.  When the women ruled Barbieland they didn’t endanger the Kens, make them, subservient, or steal from them.  America Ferrara’s speech is spot on.  I’m not a crier and even I teared up at that.  
The majority of people who don’t like it or call it over woke are white men with fragile egos who are terrified of losing power.

I’ve seen it 3 times, cried every time and loved it every time. I’d go see it 10 more times. It really spoke to me in many different ways as a woman, a mother, and as a daughter.

I havent seen it but I plan to. My partner said he'll see it with me and i'm honestly interested to see if it sparks any conversations between us regarding gender roles. I cant really figure out why conservative commentators are so upset by it, so I cant comment on that lol

I haven’t seen it yet but plan to when it’s released out of theater. I cannot remember where but I read an article interviewing the direction. She said something like you’ll either love it or hate it but that’s where the conversation starts. 
Personally, I wasn’t allowed to play with Barbie’s so I have no nostalgia towards it. But from what I have seen from commentary and clips this movie brings up some interesting points about patriarchy and women’s “role” in society.
