Am I being sensitive?

My mother tends to laugh at things my 4 year old does or when she talks. Sometimes she says, she finds it so adorable to watch her talk so “grown up” which I get. But, I think my mom over does it, I feel like my LO can interpret that she’s not taken seriously. I want to say something to my mom but she most likely will say I’m being sensitive and controlling.

If your daughter was 2 and just learning to form sentences and whatnot, then I can see the adorable humor your mother is claiming. But she’s 4, absolutely old enough to know that she’s being laughed at and, like you said, not taken seriously. I would tell your mother that the laughing at your daughters expense stops now, or you’ll be forced to start taking steps to distance the two of them. You’re the parent here, it’s your job to stand up for your child. Who cares if she’ll see you as controlling? Your daughter deserves better than what your mother is doing to her.
