Do you find your local police force to be competent?
I know we’ve had conversations here about if you trust the police based on how they treat people, particularly marginalized groups. This is similar, but slightly different. Do you find your local police force to be competent? The Uvalde Police were heavily criticized for their incompetence. While this is a different circumstance, I’ve been following the story of the escaped convict in Pennsylvania.
If you didn’t know, convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante escaped from a Pennsylvania prison on August 31st. He has been spotted in a nearby area on multiple surveillance cameras and trail cameras. He has been in backyard, in the area of Longwood Gardens (a botanical garden attraction), and has allegedly been inside someone’s home.

The police have had drones, helicopters, a ton of police (some of which on horseback), a K-9 unit, and help from the FBI. With Cavalcante having not fled too far and has stayed in the same general location, this has sparked the surrounding communities to question the capability of local police forces. Critics recognize there have been trouble with the elements since Calvalcante is hiding in thick brush and is experienced in hiding in thick forestry, as well as there being a heatwave; However, with so many sightings of him, they still wonder how he has not yet been captured.
So this begs the question, do you have trust in your local police force? How are communities affected when they don’t believe law enforcement is capable of effectively executing tasks v
