Because I don't have kids I don't deserve a paid internship

In the spring I start an internship for my degree. The internship is 40 hours a week. They are gonna pay a stipend to the first 15 people who sign up. After that it's unpaid. I was one of the first and will be getting paid for my internship. Well during the week one of my advisors in my program asked to speak to me. She explained that anyone after the 15 gets put on a list in case someone drops out of the internship before it starts then they can move up to the pain internship. She told me that there are a lot of single mothers who could really use the paid internship and tried to encourage me to at least drop out of the paid program. I said that I have bills to pay too. I can't afford to work for 3 months for free. She says to me "You don't have kids so you have the free time to get another job and work 80 hours a week." So I guess fuck me right? Because I don't have kids fuck me, fuck the fact that I have classes and homework, fuck the fact that I have pets to care for. Fuck the fact that I need SLEEP. I said no and she told me to plz reconsider. I told her "Just because someone made the decision to have children doesn't mean I have to bend over and effect my life so someone else just because I don't have kids." She argued with me about it and I said "If you care so much about these single parents why not pay everyone for the internship instead of expecting me to give up my paid internship just because I don't have kids." She got silent and said I could go. I don't think I was wrong. I have bills and I was one of the first 15. I hate when people think that child free people have to bend over backwards for people who made the decision to have children. I'm not gonna be broke and hungry and possibly homeless just because they don't wanna pay everyone for the internship.
