Is it controlling?

I feel like my partner (and his friends) won’t allow me to have private conversations around them. If I’m around them, they go out of their way to insert themselves. For example, I was talking to someone, a MINOR, and playfully teasing them. My partner right away walks over and was like “what? What are you guys talking about?” Or I was talking to one of my friends from work and his friend repeatedly inserted themselves (it was a longer conversation so they would go do something and then come back again). It was so obvious and I was kinda embarrassed. A couple times he’ll even interrupt my conversations and pull me off to the side. Thankfully I’m not around groups/other people with him and/or his friends that often, but still. I would like to have privacy but I feel like they’re weird about it. No matter who it is. Male, female, gay, straight, old person, minor. I don’t get it
