When do you tell people?

I'm 4w5d, just found out today and sooo excited. Am seeing my immediate family (half are ob/gyns, the other half have had children) so I'm itching to tell them and get advice. But seems like people say to wait until 12 wks? Why? Are you waiting or have you told?

We've told everyone close to us!  Facebook can wait, but we couldn't keep our mouths shut for another 7 weeks!

The reason to wait is the risk of miscarriage. The chance of having a miscarriage after the first trimester is very low, so people recommend waiting to tell until then, because if you tell everyone right away and then have a miscarriage, it's obviously awkward and sad to then have to update everyone on that kind of news.

​But it's completely reasonable to tell close friends and family right away, people who you'd want to be there to support you in the event of a miscarriage.

​But of course chances are you will have a healthy 9 months!! Congratulations!!

I'm 6 weeks today. I've told all my close friends and family and all my co workers. After my first appointment I'm going to tell everyone else.

I am 11 weeks 5 days and we told our granny due to she wasn't doing well and recently passed! I'm pregnant with baby #2 and beginning to show some (being on the heavier side it's not as easy sucking in anymore) but we haven't told our family or friends yet! Last year I told my family around 6 weeks and we lost the baby by ectopic 3 weeks later! I've had two ultrasounds and know everything's great it's just still been hard for me to scream the news! My hubby is anxious and ready to spill the beans where I want to wait until 13 weeks

I'm waiting til we have the ultrasound at 8 weeks to tell my family.

We told our parents and our bffs, but that's it, I'm waiting to get out of the danger zone. If God forbid anything were to go wrong I'd hate having to tell the world I miscarried. I recommend telling your nearest and dearest but tell the world after you're in the clear.
