First year shoes New ?

My 17 month old twins been walking barefoot up until a week ago, I’m using their sister’s shoes which fit them perfectly. And are like new. 
Some of the family members are saying they need new shoes and not used, especially their first year so they don’t have any walking problems. I’m not willing to spend almost 200 worth of new shoes that are going to be used for a season. Is it mandatory to have new shoes?

Target sell good sneakers for like $10 lol . U don’t need to spend $200 on several pairs. Yeah it’s not recommended to give kids used shoes. Bc the shoes conform to their feet. So new is better to conform to the kids feet  and help with walking

I don’t think OP is saying one pair of shoes would be $200. But decent early walker shoes (eg Stride Rite) can easily cost $50 and if you’ve got twins and want them each to have 2 pairs, then there’s your $200.

You don’t need to spend $200 on shoes. That’s ridiculous. I wouldn’t even spend that much on my own shoes 😆

I always feel the inside of the shoe. If it has deep imprints of feet I throw them out. If they are smooth, or the imprint is very light, will hand down. I grew up wearing hand-me-down shoes, and other people’s feet imprints were very uncomfortable. 
What is more important for new walkers is to have shoes with very flexible soles and wide toe boxes, and to still just let them be barefoot when possible.
