Question

Wondering why my cycle is so crazy I have a 36 day cycle I'm now on day 53 with a few days of spotting could that have been Af or is it a chance it could be BFB

Delayed ovulation can lengthen your follicular phase.  Sometimes a woman could have an extremely delayed ovulation due to stress or other factors.  Things like sickness, travel (believe it or not) are still stresses on the body and can throw off ovulation. Your follicular phase is not over until ovulation has occurred, and if that's delayed, the length of your cycle will be more than what you're used to as the luteal or (progestarional) phase has a finite life span of 12 to 16 days.

Answer

Your Luteal phase is your post ovulationary phase which should give you higher BBT's.  So let's say stress pushed back your ovulation from Day 18 to Day 25.  This would result in a  37 to a 41 day cycle.  (Adding your follicular phase days and your luteal phase days up.  I recommend that you start charting if you can.  If you are unsure of how to then I recommend you read "Taking Charge of your fertility" by Toni Weschler. You can buy it used on Amazon for about $6.
